What Blocks Gordon's Drains
Most of what people know about this suburb sits near the station and the Pacific Highway shops, on ground that runs fairly flat. The blocks that fall away toward Stony Creek tell a different story.
Away from the village strip, the ground drops hard toward Stony Creek, the bushland gully that runs along the Flying-fox Reserve.
Homes on those falling blocks were built the same Federation era as everywhere else here, largely Queen Anne and bungalow styles from the 1890s through 1915, but the ground under them behaves nothing like the flatter streets near the highway.
Gordon sits on a shale ridge, and where it gives way to the gully, water and debris concentrate fast during a heavy downpour.
That's on top of the usual Federation-era pipe problem. Earthenware sewer lines from that period were jointed every metre or so, and on a steep block those joints see more than the flat-ground average: root pressure from mature street trees, plus scouring from water moving faster than the pipe was ever sized for.
The two problems compound each other. A root already working into a joint gets a helping shove from stormwater volume the next time it rains hard, and a slow leak becomes a full blockage sooner than it would on level ground.
We check both before quoting anything. A camera run on a gully-side block tells us whether we're dealing with roots, scour, or both together.
Between blocked drain repair for the joints and blocked stormwater for the runoff, that's most of what a gully-side block needs.

The Blockages Gordon Reports Most
Two more issues turn up regularly, both tied to how the suburb sits on its ridge.
Slope drainage. The fall toward Stony Creek means yard and stormwater drains on the gully blocks scour and surcharge harder in heavy rain than flatter parts of the suburb.
Stormwater overload. Heavy canopy leaf litter combines with intense Sydney downpours to overload older stormwater pits, particularly where the ridge starts to drop away.
Both point toward the same blocked stormwater work, whichever is driving a particular block's trouble.

Our Blocked Drain Services in Gordon
Flat ground and falling ground need genuinely different gear, so nothing here is a one-size answer.
- Blocked drain repair: where roots have already split a joint open on the steeper streets.
- CCTV drain inspection: confirms whether roots, scour or both are driving a blockage.
- Drain cleaning: a jetter run through root-affected lines wherever the canopy sits thickest.
- Blocked stormwater: for the falling blocks catching extra flow toward the creek.
- Blocked sewer: for the day several fixtures give up together, not just one.
- Blocked toilets: the Federation-era bathrooms give us this call more than most.
A Federation home on the steeper gully streets gets the same upfront quote and camera check as a newer unit closer to the Pacific Highway.

Why Gordon Homes Choose Us
Turramurra keeps us busy most days, and this stretch of highway barely adds to the drive from there.
Crews who don't know the ground here tend to treat every block as flat and only find the slope halfway through a job. We check the fall first.
Council paperwork and a Ku-ring-gai job most weeks means the van rarely needs restocking specifically for a Gordon call.
An old joint on a falling block, a hard downpour, and a homeowner who's had the same patch fail twice before: it's a pattern the gully streets throw up regularly, and it earns a proper camera run instead of a quick plunge.
Locals here have left their share of our 1000+ five-star reviews, part of why 15,000 Sydney families put their trust in us.

Emergency
When Gordon Has a Drain Emergency
Slope and stormwater together mean a bad ten minutes of rain can tip a slow leak into a genuine emergency.
Ring us straight away for:
- The overflow relief gully spilling out onto the lawn
- More than one drain sounding off during the same wash or flush
- A toilet that rises instead of clearing properly
- Ground near a stormwater pit staying boggy long after the rain stops
Cooler, damper winters on this ridge also push heating demand up in long-held homes, worth mentioning if a property's plumbing hasn't had a proper look in a while.
Someone picks up the phone here day or night, no exceptions.
Our Process on Every Gordon Job
1. On the phone. A licensed plumber, not a call centre, works out what's going on before anyone's dispatched.
2. Fast arrival. The van's already carrying what a sloping, older block usually needs.
3. Proper diagnosis. Camera and locator settle whether it's roots, scour, or both, before a figure gets mentioned.
4. Clear, prove, warranty. One fixed price, footage to back it up, and the job's covered going forward.

Servicing Gordon and Surrounding Suburbs
Turramurra sits a short stretch up the Pacific Highway, so getting here doesn't eat into response times.
The gully streets get the same attention as the flatter side of the suburb, plus the neighbouring patch on the same loop.

Common questions
Blocked Drain FAQs
Do I get to see proof the line's actually clear?
Every job. The camera goes back through the cleared line so you're watching the proof, not just being told about it.
What suburbs do you cover besides Gordon?
Turramurra is our home turf, plus Pymble, Wahroonga, St Ives and Killara on the same regular run.
Why do the drains on Gordon's gully blocks keep blocking?
Mostly roots and slope. The blocks running down toward Stony Creek push extra flow and debris through pipes that were never laid for that kind of pressure.
What does a quote cost?
Nothing. The quote's free, and the figure you approve is the figure you pay, no extras added later.
How local are you, really?
Turramurra's a short run down the Pacific Highway, and council work brings us this way most weeks regardless.
What about units and strata blocks?
Yes. Shared stacks in the newer buildings near the centre get quoted and diagnosed the same as any freestanding home.
